Austria vs North Macedonia – Euro 2020 Finals Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Euro 2020 Finals encounter, with Austria taking on North Macedonia on Sunday the 13th of June, 2021, at Arena Naţională, in Bucharest, Romania.

Austria faced England and Slovakia in friendly games earlier this month, failing to score in both matches. They lost 1-0 to England conceding the only goal of the game in the 56th minute, while the friendly against Slovakia ended in a goalless draw. Their current form reads; DLLWD. The only “W” you see is a 3-1 over Faroe Islands in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, back in March. Coach Franco Foda played a 4-2-3-1 formation against Slovakia in Austria’s most recent friendly game, with Kalajdzic up front, Sabitzer, Baumgartner and Lazaro behind him. As previously mentioned, Austria failed to score in both friendly matches earlier this month, definitely a source of concern, especially that “0” against Slovakia, a team less strong than them. Foda has been in charge since October 2017, succeeding Marcel Koller who had kept the job for almost six years.

The Balkans left Europe speechless with their 1-2 win in Germany back in March, in their third game in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, and their performance in their two recent friendly games further boosted their morale ahead of their first ever appearance in Euro finals; they did not beat Slovenia, they “just” drew 1-1, but that goal they conceded came late, in added time. Three days later, they took perfect advantage of the fact that Kazakhstan were left with 10 men just before halftime, to beat them 4-0. Their current form reads; WDWWL. If it weren’t for that super late Slovenia goal, the Balkans would now have four wins in a row. Coach Igor Angelovski played a 4-4-2 formation against the Kazakhs. Alioski (from the penalty spot), Trichkovski, Ristovski and Churlinov scored their goals. Angelovski has been in charge since October 2015, succeeding Ljubinko Drulovic who lasted just a few months at the job, producing some abysmal results.

The Austrians won both games in the Euro 2020 qualifiers, which was the first time these two met. First, they triumphed as guests, 1-4, and then they won as hosts as well, 2-1.

A 2-0 victory for Austria is predicted at full-time.

Date: Sunday, 13th of June, 2021.

Venue: Arena Naţională

Kick-off time: 18:00 (GMT+2).
