Streams for Port Adelaide Power vs Geelong Cats

As active case of Covid numbers dwindle, the AFL rounds march on, and round 13 starts with a true blockbuster, as the finalists from 2020 Geelong, head to Port Adelaide to renew hostilities, after Port stumbled at the final hurdle last year.  Both teams are excelling again in 2021, as are new challengers, especially Melbourne and the Dogs; Port are 5th with a fine 8-3 record, while the Cats are 3rd with the same win, losses stats, but a much better percentage, a win for either cements them in the top 4 for the near future.  Port are fresh, coming off a bye, and defeated Fremantle at this venue in round 11, meaning they are settled too, while other teams have been jetting frantically across the countryside, Geelong just beat Collingwood in round 11, and had a bye last week.  Thursday evening will provide both clubs with ideal weather for this cracking encounter.

Port have no new injury concerns, and ought to be firing and ready to take on the 2nd half of their season, after the bye, and look to have fine depth across the park, especially in the midfield, led by the likes of Wines and Boak.  The only injury since their last game to speak of is that of fringe small-forward Fantasia who is not in this game squad, while they will name a med-sub closer to start-time.  Geelong have reinforcements returning to their squad after the week off, and look a much stronger team, after their break, meaning they should be ultra-competitive against Port, despite being in Adelaide.  Blicavs returns on the bench for Geelong, as does Mark O’Connor, while Mitch Duncan will play in the midfield and start, and elite midfielder Patrick Dangerfield returns to bolster them no end.

Port hosted Geelong in the first week of the Finals in 2020 and did the job, winning by 16, at this venue, but undoubtedly the Power will beware of the game last season in August, that saw the Cats win by 60.  Port have taken a little hit to their chances in recent weeks of winning the title, and have slipped to $8 chances, while the Cats are now a rung above them at $6.50; clearly these two teams are heavyweights.  Port are favourites to win this game, but by less than a goal, signalling the bookies are not confident on any of the odds, as the Power are $1.80 and Geelong just $2.02.

PREDICTION: When it is tight like this, the home team gets my vote, by 10.

BETTING TIP: $2.25 for Port to win by 1-39 provides good value.
